Michael was born in Dublin on August 15th 1972 in a big family (5 sisters and 1 brother), his mother is a housewife and his father is a carpenter.

Mikey actually wasn't in the band first. There was two other members (Boyzone were 6 at the beginning) but the two others just gave up before the band was officially up. Mikey is the eldest of the boyz. He usually shares his hotel room with Keith... poor Keith because Mikey snores really loud!

Mikey has a little daughter, Hannah that he had with his ex-girfriend Sharon Keen. Mikey and Sharon met in 1995 and they settled in together before Hannah was born. After a few years Mikey and Sharon splitted up and now Mikey is engaged to a dancer called Karen. They're planning to get married soon.

Mikey's solo career began in Boyzone. He likes to write songs but the type of songs he writes just doesn't fit with the Boyzone style. Although on the album "Where We Belong" he wrote "Good Conversation" and since then he decided to write more songs for him. He released a single "You're My Angel" (dedicated to his daughter) that he sang in some Boyzone concerts. That single sold out quite well and Mikey released his first solo album "Meet Me Halfway" in 2001.
